Bismillahi Rahmani Raheem Assalamu Alaikum.
Often when we research something if possible Allah sends us the ruh of that prophet or an Angel to guide us to the right understanding, such was the case after writing the following for an upcoming work:
If it interests some, the oldest Buddhist statues date to about the sixth century AD, temples are much older as is the religion, and “the oldest Buddhist manuscripts yet discovered, date from about the 1st century CE. They represent the literature of Gandharan Buddhism from the present-day north western Pakistan and eastern Afghanistan. They are written in Gāndhārī, and are possibly the oldest extant Indic texts.”
“Buddha objected to deification according to Theravada Buddhism, but in some streams of Buddhism, Buddha is worshipped essentially as an omniscient divinity possessed of many supernatural attributes and qualities. Though the process of deification of Buddha started from the Pāli Cannons in early Buddhism, but it gained greater momentum in the later commentaries.”
“The earlier disciples of the Buddha apparently did not feel any need of compiling the Master’s biography. This would probably be because of the fact that they were repeatedly admonished by Buddha himself that the Dhamma (governing Laws of the Universe, Shariah, Hikmah) be first emulated. Buddha had often emphasized the fact that one, who sees the Dhamma (Laws of the Universe), sees the Buddha (who embodies them, like Rasul Allah (saws) was an embodiment of the Quran). He wanted his disciples to remember him through the correct interpretations of his doctrines. Literary evidences show that attempts were made only several centuries after the demise of the Buddha to compile a systematic and coherent biography of Buddha including the genealogy of the Sakya clan.”
“Buddha (n.) is an epithet from Pali, literally meaning “awakened, enlightened,” past participle of budh “to awake, know, perceive,” which is related to Sanskrit bodhati “is awake, observes, understands,” from PIE root *bheudh- “be aware, make aware.”
If you ask, “aware of what”?, the answer is the same in every religion, to be aware of ghayb (the unseen, the spiritual part of the universe), to have the veils removed from your sight so you see as the prophets saw, what are you aware of ? the cause and reason behind matters that come into peoples lives because every matter has its origin in the unseen part of the Universe, Insha Allah Khair. (End of Quote)
The Prophet of Allah Buddha (as) visited us in the presence of some Mala’ikah that where already here and taught us about His teachings, He (as) began by revealing the Buddha state to us so we understood what it was separate from the exaggerations mentioned regarding it.
It is the state of prophet hood and its Ihsan, but Buddha emphasised it as a “way” so His students would know it from its feeling in themselves that they achieved it, when you have the state you can know right from wrong by seeing what preserves you in that state and what removes you from it. If you sense an act is removing you from it you know to stay away from it and if an act strengthens you in it you know it is good, from this you can understand the universe and its Dharma (how it works).
Buddha (as) specifically emphasised this “way” to teach people from his time because that is how they understood, today in Islam we have the words necessary to describe things but not back then, language and people where much simpler in that early time of man.
We wanted to call the Buddha state the state of prophet hood specifically, but Rasul Allah (saws) corrected us, that state is only for prophets, Buddha (as) then showed us the subtle difference, it is more accurate to say the Buddha state comes from the state of prophet hood because normal people cannot achieve prophet hood and He was teaching something for the common man, the Buddha state as He (as) taught it is what people can achieve of it and it is only a few degrees removed from the state of the prophets.
From that state we were taught, we can tell you for example from writing this that we have used to many words to describe the matter, simplicity is more in line with the way of Buddha (as), but we are not as eloquent as we would like, insha Allah you can understand now it is a balance in yourself you need to maintain without sacrificing to the world, and from that you can then see it is a sunnah (state and hal) passed on from one student of Buddah to the next, you emulate what you see in your teacher.
There is one single word to describe Buddha (as) in Arabic, immensely Naeem, we have seen Allah’s prophets but none are as Naeem (gentle) as Him (as). He is nothing like the way He (as) is depicted in modern times, those images are not of him (as) they are rather impressions made for each locality, Khair insha Allah, but He (as) is a thin man like every prophet of Allah.
The word Naeem can describe the Buddha state itself and what you should maintain, what removes it from you is wrong and what helps you with it is right, this is the simple teaching he (as) tried to teach his (as) people, this is what he (as) showed me.
If you do something wrong with one part of your body it will affect a specific area of your understanding, if you do something wrong with another part of your body it will affect another area of your understanding (perception and knowledge) the matter of spirituality and your body is connected and from that you can learn, it is like a litmus test that indicates things to you.
He (as) does not like to appear to the Buddhist of this time because of how they depict and describe him (as), He (as) said this in front of me to a Buddhist Jinn who spoke to him (as).
Buddah (as) taught us that if you want to look at His (as) face you have to look at the face of His people (as), the Sakya clan, there you will find them still saying things according to His (as) Sunnah just as the Arabs of Makkah and Madinah still have the habits they took from Rasul Allah (saws), the most famous man they looked up to.
The Sakya capital was Kapilavastu, which was in present-day Tilaurakot, Nepal, the unique quality and feeling you sense from the Nepalese people its basis and origin is the Buddha state, when you see them you see one thing in them Naeem (gentleness) the exact same Naeem feeling you see in their prophet (as) but with a lessor light, this is the light of their prophet (as) in them.
A Chinese prophet does not look like a Japanese Prophet or a Mongolian Prophet or an Indian Prophet, from this you can see how each people interpreted His (as) words according to their background and disposition, which is why so many differing books exist in Buddhism.
The prophets of Allah wanted us to share this account with you, Khair Insha Allah, Alhamdulilah we can say the Prophet of Allah Buddah (as) is one of our spiritual teachers like Imam Tustari (as) and Sayyid abd Al-aziz Al-Dabbagh (as). This is the way of wilaya when Allah is guiding a person He sends him His guides to help, both Imam Tustari and Sayyid abd Al-aziz Al-Dabbagh (rah) after visiting us explained how Allah asked them to raise us as we matured because our affair in life was similar to theirs, and like wise Sayyidina Buddah (as) related the same explaining it was because we lived among His people Allah wanted to help us navigate their spirituality, these where companions in life and in the Akhira.
Shaykh Rami Al Rifai.
[After we wrote this someone wrote something ignorant, we know Buddah (as) was a prophet of Allah because He (as) displayed in front us the Wahy of a prophet, here we don’t mean formal revelation but knowing things only a prophet can know about matters, because He is being spoken to by Allah at the time, wahy is the best word to describe it. After we witnessed it Rasul Allah (saws) said to us this is what was with us, then the Sahaba came (Umar (as)) and said this is what we used to see in Rasul Allah (saws) that proved to us He (saws) was a Prophet, you will know it from their descriptions in ahadith of how they came to believe in Him (saws). When a prophet speaks you will see He is always answering with His speech future questions that will occur to you naturally later on, it is something unique and amazing to witness, it has to do with the reality they are living.]“O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you.” (4:59)
